“Test the spirits” (1 John 4:1-6)

John writes that we are to be very aware and careful what we listen to, especially of those who speak from the word of God. Jesus, John, Peter, and Paul warned us there will be many that come in the name of God with a ‘word’ from God. But we are told to test what it is they are presenting. If it can be corroborated by the truth of scripture, then we can trust that it is from God. May we live with the same mind as those commended by Paul from Berea that searched the scriptures daily to see if what was being preached is of the truth.
