“Sacrificial Confidence” (1 John 3:19-24)

Have you ever felt guilty or ashamed because of something you did, or didn't do? What is your typical response to that shame? For me, I tend to go and do something to make up for it. So it is with our Christianity. We feel ashamed or guilty because we don't feel we measure up to other 'super-Christians'. Therefore, we go and do some good deed to make ourselves feel better. Yet that is not what Jesus wants us to do.

Our faith in God rests in the sacrificial blood of Jesus, period. There is nothing we have to do to earn good favor with the Lord. Our responsibility is to believe in the name of Jesus. As we live the life He has given to us, we let His light and love shine through us to the world around us. Rest assured brothers and sisters, and stand confident in your salvation!
