Posts with the tag “serve”

"There is no service without sacrifice." How does that hit ya? Let me tell you something. This about dropped me on the floor when I heard it. I can easily say I've known this for a long time. I can easily brush it off as another great quote that came down the pike. I could completely ignore it, or even say that I've already applied it to my life. When the Lord wants to make His point very clear to you, He will.
Our Churchly Routine
by Cameron Stevens on October 26th, 2020
How many of us have been asked at one time or another in our life, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I guess I should appeal to the adult readers and ask, "What do you do for a living?" The ultimate question that we as Christians need to ask ourselves is, "Do we do church?" Do we go to church because we feel it's something to "do"? Do you go to church because you feel it is your weekly obligation to fulfill your Christian duty? Do you sit down, sing the songs, listen to the announcements, regretfully tithe your 10%, listen to the message (which may or may not make you feel better about how you lived your life during the week), say hi to someone, and then head home feeling "accomplished"?
A Deeper Relationship
by Cameron Stevens on September 21st, 2020
To be a Christian. To be "like" Christ. A disciple. A follower of Jesus. What does this all mean? It was a long time ago, in a career far, far away that the Lord spoke very clear to me. I was at an administrator's conference when He spoke the following phrase to me: "exist to serve". In searching scripture, God directed me to 1 John 2:6 which states, "The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked." Little did I know how important this would become to my personal faith in Jesus today.
